Siuslaw River Cedar #2 - Multiple Color/Paper Options

from $40.00

Smaller 12”x12” and 16”x16” prints of this really cool slice of ancient preserved cedar wood with a swirly center, printed with a variety of color and paper options (See photos and options available, or request a custom color/combo!) 12×12” Framed prints also available - handmade by me using Western red cedar wood, standard glass, and foam core backing (contact for any special needs, glare-free glass, etc.).

Ancient Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) tree that researchers used radiocarbon dating to estimate the tree died approximately 1,800 years ago! The likely story is that a Cascadia Subduction Zone Earthquake caused the forested land surface to sink several feet and be buried in sediment carried in by the River, preserving the wood until it was exhumed when excavating new tidal channels for a habitat restoration project. Check out the “Stories of the Trees” section and Instagram posts for more details.
